今日のBLおすすめ！Today's BL Recommendation

Everybody! Long time no blog, huh! I have to admit school's cockblocking me from finishing up the rest of Hakuouki! (；￢_￢)  So, that's just going to have to wait until later! Instead I'd like to bring  a new series to the blog, and that's recommendations! I know as a Fujoshi it's difficult to go through the thick layers of pron mangaka or sometimes you have a set type you like. So I hope this will give you some introductions to good ones! I'll try to only post ones that are available online and/or english translated!


On another note this is not shounen-ai, this is straight up BL so use discretion please! There are also a few spoiler images, but not anything that'll really ruin the storyline.

First up is a personal favorite, Akanai Tobira by Suzuki Tsuta.

...the pictures is just a tad bit blurry, huh? Or rather I don't think it does justice to Suzuki-sensei's art! Her art style is delectable in my opinion, her tachi (seme) are so manly and her neko (uke) are so adorable. The art style might not be a favorite by those who like the really cutesy types. Her tachi are definitely not shiny, bishounen and her neko are not adorable in the big eyes and "I look like I'm two boobs and minus one genital away from being a female." Instead her art is more clear cut and there is absolutely no mistaking that the men in these stories are male. So, that when you hit the H-scenes and watch their neko's face twist in pleasure and pain you can almost faint from the moe.

I seriously need to stop with all the hyping on the art, I'm completely and utterly biased. I love this type of style so much, and I love how Suzuki-sensei draws her characters. They match actions are so beautifully drawn onto their face and characters you could totally not see as sexy, get so sexy in the H-scense. Actually that's a good adjective all together for sensei's works, sexy. Her art is downright unsuspectingly sexy. 

As for storyline? There are three main stories all together, and 5.5 chapters. The first two stories deal with naughty indifferent tachi (semes), that if you met in real life you'd punch them in the face. However, their neko (ukes) are so balancing and sexy, the matchings are detrimental to my moe meter! As for the third story, oh dear, that one always throws me a curveball when I reread it! It is definitely not my favorite out of the three but I still love it nonetheless! 

As generic summary though, the first couple deals with the indifferent, super straight-straight-straight (as he likes to tell himself) Usui and his college underclassmen who is definitely not super straight Masuoka. Usui use to spend college getting teased that Masuoka was always staring at me and was in complete and  in complete and utter love with him. On Masuoka's end, well there isn't any denying it, I swear he seemed more the predator at times. Nevertheless, time passes by and Usui does computer work but needs an assistant (one not as useless as his freeloading but lovable/pitiable roommate) so he hires Masuoka. Who as his roommate (his name escapes me) describes him as having this kind of sexy aura around him. This sexy aura gets Masuoka in all kinds of trouble, drawing men from all over to molest his sexy ass. Of course Usui is super tired of this "gayness" (he uses a much more harsher term in the manga), so he decides to take it upon himself to punish his cute underclassmen and see what this pheromone thing is all about.

Second story is actually what drew me to the manga first. To be quite honest, the first like three times I read this manga, that's the only story I read. The couple is so unbelievably cute I just wanted a spinoff focusing on them. Not...not that I'm completely biased or anything （　´∀｀）. The story deals with the prince like Tachibana and the reserved Tayama. The two are in university together but they also went to high school together. Back in high school all the girls Tayama would like, fell for Tachibana. Now in Uni together Tachibana clings onto Tayama, making him uncomfortable. That doesn't stop Tayama, who is such a grumpy lovable character, from falling for him. And he tumbles right into Tachibana's grasps. Who, in the two chapters dedicated them, we find out is the equivalent of an ass. An ass who is obsessed with Tayama's. The prince-like character is more of a naughty imp and you can't help but me charmed by him too. 

Last couple, deals with the sexy convenient store beauty, Nishijima and the honest, police officer Muraoka. Muraoka constantly goes to Nishijima's store to stare at the beauty and when he finally gets a chance he gets to not only talk to him but things go rather fast. It's cute to see Muraoka getting led around by Nishijima. The former finds out that the latter actually does a bit of service for quick bucks/yen. Doesn't stop him from being in love though! 

The stories are good, quick reads (unfortunately!) and feature some explosive and memorable characters. Not all characters (especially the first two tachi) may be agreeable to other people's tastes but accept them for their impish natures and you'll find the manga a romping good time! The stories do progress rather quickly though and I wish there were more. I do have some criticisms for some of the characters, but you know, sometimes you just got to take your BL characters as they are!
